James Cameron has decided to re-release his epic film Avatar, but with a special twist.
The Los Angeles Times reports that on August 27 Avatar: Special Edition is going to open in Digital 3D and Imax 3D theaters. The blockbuster film will be shown in about 400 theatres.
The special edition of the film includes eight extra minutes of the film. The extra eight minutes will include “new creatures and action scenes,” according to Cameron.
According to VanityFair.com, the re-release of Avatar was in response to the great fan demand to see more of the film. Cameron commented about the re-release.
"Audiences repeatedly told me they wanted more of Pandora and wished they could have stayed there longer," Cameron said. "So we're making that possible."
Avatar was released in December 2009 and the film grossed $2.7 billion worldwide.
"Whether you already love the movie, or you've never seen it, with this special edition, you'll be seeing it like never before," Cameron saidHollywoodReporter.com reported.
